Theme: Landscape – Media: Video – London Suburbia 2054 – RESEARCH | Week 9 of 13

For the video workshop we were set out to shoot a 2-3 minute film based on a suburb of London in the year 2054. Based on research I decided not to have any characters or objects as it would not give it a futuristic feel, this is because you never know what fashion or technology you will see 30 years from now. I decided this from the film Back to the Future part II in which we see the year 2015 depicted from 1989; this is because we see things that we find silly (the auto adjustable jacket) or too modern (flying cars).

Based on the bible there is nothing good about the future, we see many verses such as revelation 13:7 “It was given power to wage war against God’s holy people and to conquer them. And it was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. ” And 13:16-17 “16 It also forced all people, great and small, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hands or on their foreheads, 17 so that they could not buy or sell unless they had the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of its name.”

The year 2054 reminded me of book my college teacher wrote ‘Quantum Drop’ which was also set in the future, where the future is also not a pleasant place.
